DEBRA RODMAN ANNOUNCES UPSET VICTORY IN HOUSE DISTRICT 73
HENRICO, Va. – After her upset victory in a district long held by Republicans and last contested in 2009, Delegate Elect Debra Rodman released the following statement:
“I am truly and deeply humbled to have been elected to represent the citizens of the 73rd district. Throughout our campaign, we focused on the issues that are most important to people here in Henrico—access to affordable healthcare, strong public schools, and building a workforce and a community for the 21st century. Voters showed that they are ready for change from the tired policies that put politics before our health, and allowed special interests to endanger our schools and our environment. I look forward to representing the interests of real people in Richmond.”
Rodman added, “I want to thank the hundreds of volunteers and supporters from across the district and the Commonwealth who made this victory possible with their incredible and tireless efforts to get our message to voters. We could not have won without such an inspiring effort, and my hope is that we can continue engaging with our community. It is so important that we come together to find solutions to the challenges we face, and to engage in a way that moves our district, our Commonwealth and our country forward.”
Virginia House Democratic Caucus Leader David J. Toscano and Caucus Chair Charniele Herring added:
“Debra Rodman has been unwavering in her fight to ensure that everyone has a shot at the American Dream. As a fierce advocate for affordable healthcare and a good education, Rodman has shown that she is a true voice for the people. She will bring an educator’s perspective to Richmond, and we are thrilled to welcome Debra to the House of Delegates.”
